Crushed concrete is a superb recycled sub-base material commonly used for used under patios and driveways.
Crushed concrete is produced mainly from demolition waste (hardcore and concrete) with an element of fine to bind the material together when compacted. This material is also used commercially for piling mats haul roads and for general ground stabilization. Our delivered load size is from a single bulk bag to a fifteen cubic meter tipper load. Sizes and grading
A standard size for crushed concrete material is 75mm down to dust, that literally means that the largest particles will be 75mm and the smallest particles will be dust size and there may be range of other particles in the material between 75mm and the dust size.
The term crushed concrete is only a basic term and can be a bit misleading. The material may also include such material as brick, hardcore and tarmac and in some cases even wood is acceptable.
Type 2 crushed concrete
Usually just made from concrete (from demolition waste, foundations concrete structures etc) with a 75mm down to dust grade. There is also a 6g product that can be used as gabion stone
Type 1 frost heave
Usually just made from concrete, with a 50mm down to dust grading! This material can withstand frost so can be used under road surfaces as a sub base
6F2 Crushed Material
This material resembles a Type 2 material. It has the same grading but is made up from many recycled materials, such as brick, block, tarmac, concrete and possibly wood, with a 75mm down to dust grading
Type 1 graded crushed concrete
This material may contain the same constituents as 6F2 but its grading is usually 75mm down to dust
